Kerbside Collection
And IWK Blue Rubbish Bags
Standard materials for Kerbside Collection
Standardising the materials collected across the country will improve the clarity and effectiveness of kerbside collections. This will reduce confusion about what can and cannot be recycled at the kerbside and rebuild public trust in our recycling systems.
From 1 February 2024, only these items will be collected for council managed kerbside dry recycling.

Making it easier for people to recycle and divert food scraps from landfill
Q:
What will you collect from our kerbside?
We will accept any of the following items:
-
Milk bottles, Janitorial plastics (#2), All clear plastics (#1), All #5's.
-
Aluminium & steel cans
-
Cardboard (flattened & tied) & Paper
-
Glass (in a separate crates, predominant colour in one and mixed in the other) NO pane glass or any other glass except jars and bottles
Please remember to Wash & Squash!
Q:
What about my Recycling Crates?
At the end of 2023 we delivered two blue recycling crates to each eligible property for glass reclcuing. One bin was for your predominant colour and the other bin could be mixed with the other glass colours.
This then freed up your 2 green recycling crates, so one could be for plastics (#1, 2 and 5’s) and the other for tins and aluminium.
If you lose a crate or are a new build, you can purchase these at the weighbridge at the Resource Recovery Centre.
